Welcome to Bishop Books, where the recent past can come to light with an array of early twentieth century pictures of many of the villages that huddle around the eastern fringes of the City of Bristol, in either South Gloucestershire, or North Somersetshire. In some instances you will be able to compare the Then with the Now, whilst in others you can take a pictorial tour of a particular area as the turn of each individual page reveals a moment of the past which has been frozen in time by the camera. All of the books have been written, produced and published by Bishop Books, and whilst many concentrate upon the pictorial history of a particular area, others rely upon the written word to illustrate the fascination of local and social history. Although most of the books cover the region around the eastern border of Bristol, two of the books go to the heart of the city, to give a potted history of the area around Old Market, Easton, Newtown and Redfield, whilst another tells in both words and pictures the history of Bristol's trams, as it follows the first line to be electrified, and the last line as its operation was suddenly curtailed by enemy action. Please read on and enjoy the benefits of acquiring Bishop Books.
